I think the problem here is an ancient computer. 2GB ram? Most phones now have more than that. Chrome does like to use about 600MB+ of ram, it will use 6GB if you have it and have many tabs open, but if you were running an operating system that was modern and could manage ram use and resources properly, it wouldn't be an issue. XP does not deal well with much over 2.5-3GB of ram, and with 32-bit, you'll be maxxing out at 3.2GB usable anyways. I am running Win7 with 16GB of ram on a system also running multiple virtual machines, and never have slowdowns...and my PC is by no means "top of the line". Realistic lifespan of a (decent) computer is about 4-5 years. Low end pc, 2-3. Considering you can now buy 16GB of ram for about $40 or less, why suffer with old slow technology?
