Glad that worked out for you. I don't know why the typeface is bigger but (ctrl ++ is your friend). Another browser you might like is Opera. It takes some getting used to, but is fast and has some nice features. Try the add memory part too. Your PC can probably address ~3.5 GB (Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, Memory, Laptop Memory, 4GB). I have 3GB in one laptop and 4 GB in my other(you should get 4GB). I commonly have about 70 tabs open before I start to have a noticeable slowdown (HDD/memory swapping).

I also find that it helps to kill/restart my browser every week or so, I suspect due to memory leaks in flash.
