Unfortunately, you fail to see the benefits of older systems to most folks and instantly recommend new hardware to cure any and all ills. You made a blanket statement that 2GB is insufficient to run Chrome and you were dead wrong. The problem was not the 2GB, it was the Chrome browser itself. Pick a different browser and the problem disappears. You failed to even consider this possibility.
Didn't you drive an older SD and your father also drives an older SD? Why change your philosophy that "new" is better when it comes to vehicles? You're so disingenuous that you'll recommend brand new IT hardware at the drop of the hat but won't consider a brand new automobile for exactly the same reasons. This is hypocritical beyond the pale.

Can't compare cars and computers. The difference between a 7 year old computer and one today is vast. The difference between a brand new car and one from 10,20,30 years ago is much less. Both can accomplish the same thing just as easily and can often have similar performance and efficiency. An ancient PC with 2GB of ram IS insufficient for much of the tasks and demands of modern software and even web applications. I just set up a newer PC for someone who is 75 years old and they were thrilled at the difference vs their 7ish year old XP machine they had. Ever actually used a modern computer? As an IT professional, I do happen to know what I am talking about. I do not upgrade ALL things. In fact we still have a very old winXP machine that handles incoming/outgoing faxes on our network, just because there is no need to upgrade it as there'd be no change in capability. But for a day to day machine, there's no reason to stay stuck in the past.
