Not to mention that the excess labor can be better utilized in other ways. We have a whole economy to convert from fossil fuels to electric/hydrogen/renewables/nuclear in the next 20-30 years if we want mankind to survive. Time to start doing it rather than sitting with our thumbs up our anuses.

This is all very true. The sad thing is that a good amount of American need to work that 45+ or beyond per week because they need that money to support their families. Or are working in understaffed environments or are underpaid. I am all for shorter work weeks and commutes.
I am also all for conversion from fossil fuels to alternative superior forms.
However I feel as if we'll get some half-baked half-assed bastard child of a solution. I mean, they gave us that E85/ethanol crap. We make that from food corn right? And its worse than gas?
