For me it philosophically wouldn't be as hard to accept the death of an elderly person as they would be at the end of their life.
I just don't see how one could get acclimated to the death of an infant or a child without it affecting you everytime.
Out twins were born very premature and were in the neonatal ICU for about 3 months.
During their stay there, a very tiny, premature baby passed away. The doctor had alerted the parents that death was imminent, and while I was there watching my kids, they prayed over the baby for God to take the child into heaven.
Even now just typing this it brings tears to my eyes.
