I put a set in the dash locations in my 190E and I'm quite pleased with them. Clear without hyped highs. But you're right; they're not as loud (or warm-sounding) as the stock (Nokia-made?) paper speakers. My car has a Sony head unit installed by a previous owner. I plan a new head unit, new "hat rack" speakers, and a little sub, so I'm not so concerned by the weaker bass response of the Helixes.
