Picking up again on the issue of the rear vents on W124s:
It must be remembered that the W124 was and still is almost the "bread and butter" line up for Mercedes. The 190s/Cs is their bargain line and, of course, the S-class is the ubber wagen.
Forget about the A or V classes, those are NOT Benzes at all.
Then, the standard rear vents on the W124 are remarkable, taken into account that the best selling models for this line were the 200/200E/230E/220E, and originally were not even equipped with power windows or locks to begin with, much less an stereo, an electrical antenna, power seats, sunroof, tinted windows... et.al
And, considering the S-class rear vents, they are insignificant teasers compared to the rear A/C controls which you could order optionally on all W140 models (I think the S600 had this system standard in the U.S.).
