Yes, from what I have read on the W123s Annular Axles the end that goes into the Differential comes apart and there is a Clip that holds the Axle Shaft in the Joint Flange.
Remove the Clip and get the Shaft out and you can slide the Boots on.

Not sure what is in this thread -Rebuild of Annular Axles talked about.
