Glow harness ground is not grounded for fast glow system per instructions (old loop style temp sender ground) Glows are all connected and power wire runs to solenoid and then to battery - one push button wire to small terminal on Ford solenoid, the other to positive battery post -What happened, I read on Youtube that this setup can be miswired somehow creating large power drains like I am experiencing - how exactly? This is driving me nuts!
Loosen the Connection at the point in Red. Use a Digital Volt Meter and put the Black Probe on the Wire end and the Red Probe at the Solenoid connection. If there is a Voltage drain you will see a Voltage reading on the Meter.
If there is no Voltage shown on the Meter there is no Voltage Drain going through the Glow Plugs.

Do a similar thing to the Switch Curcuit with the Switch off.
