I was accustomed to the relatively slow performance of the Dell motherboard with onboard graphics in the Vostro.

Can you explain in a bit more detail? How would I load a DOS program without a floppy drive? I see that an external 3.5" is readily available for cheap. I might even get away without it completely as I can load the DOS program from the tape backup. There is no integration with Windows...........the good old days.
