BTW, my '82 Rabbit diesel pickup has a 900 lb payload capacity. That rounds to a half ton.
When that can't do the job (which really isn't that often), I fire up my REAL '67 F-100.
Not sayin' a Rabbit pickup is the ideal vehicle (too damn dangerous now because of...big pickups on the road), but something closer to that end of the spectrum and diesel.
What happened to the old S-10 and Ranger size? Now it's only the "Big Gulp"?

Agreed. It's a matter of having a vehicle that matches the common mission. For a once a year deal, you can always come up with something for the weekend.
