You can make a cup holder that fits a W123 by taking the center console box from a W124, 300D and trimming the bottom to fit the flat area to area under the armrest. Then go to a marina store and get a boat cup holder insert and bolt it to the bottom of the console box. If you trim the top opening to the rear you can also get a cube tissue box in the adapted console. It's quick and the console insert has a low enough center of gravity that it won't tip out W123 center tray.
