Canada: Tight gun laws
USA: The more the better!
Canadian deaths per 100,000 people via firearms: 4.78
USA deaths per 100,000 people via firearms: 9
Thats DOUBLE our northern neighbors.
Guess what it is in Germany? 1.10
Thats right, almost 9 times less than here.
Wonder why that is?
Maybe because no one there owns guns? Duh.
Maybe because the average person is much more educated? Duh again.
The other half of it is the failure of education and social improvement programs in this country... that's a whole different issue...but one that leads to much higher violence.
When you look at the list of countries we're right in there with for gun deaths, its pretty repulsive considering the economic divide between us and all of them:
