Thanks for the suggestions but I will probably recover the original seat. it sits pretty well even though there is clear evidence of it being occupied by squirrells at some point.

My Grandpa Loren worked in the Studebaker upholstery shop AFIK in 1939 and I am hoping to find his signature in there somewhere.

Besides its pretty comfy in that way only an old bench seat can be.
