I was under impression those motors had mechanical valve train, not hydraulic. In any case, loss of oil to the cams, or parts of the cylinder heads, may have no ill effect on oil pressure, in fact the opposite effect could take place..... Plugged up oil galleys in the head/s, could raise oil pressure indications.

Sometimes you have to run them with the covers off to determine oil is physically making it to the right places.
