i had to stop for the night. it is unfortunately just too cold and dark to move forward right now (that and i am exhausted and frustrated).

the only success i had tonight was getting the power steering loose enough to accept a belt (i took it off after testing since i'll need to start with the alternator belts).

currently i'm stuck with the alternator as i cannot access the bolts to loosen its mount. i'm hoping to have better luck in the light tomorrow after work, but i could really use some advice and guidance here. is it possible to loosen the tensioner without loosening the alternator's mounting bolts or will i ruin it if i try this (the guide i'm using indicates mounting bolts for each device MUST be loosened before adjusting the tensioner)?
