The point is you cannot distance yourself from the man you supported. So if he takes away my gun, I don't only blame him. I blame BOTH OF YOU. In the case of the Blue Laws or abortion or gays, etc, etc, it isn't your business.
What you are doing is saying "I support Joe who believes in concentration camps for Jews. HOWEVER, I am not really trying to screw around with Jewish people. In fact, some of my best friends are Jews".
