Because painted pinstriping is not 'taped off'. It's hand done with either a brush or a wheel. For painted stripes you want to have a pro do it. There are still a few guys around that can do it, ask about in local car clubs, refinish shops, car shows, etc.

That said Cal-Stripe is very nice stripe tape and comes pre-done with a variety of colors, two-tones, various widths, same widths, different widths, etc. It has a clear overlay for applying, not difficult to do if you have a 'straight eye'. 3M has bought them so now it's ScotchCal tape, and your auto paint jobber can order it for you. It goes on smooth and stays on. Have used it a number of times over the past 35 years.

EDIT: BTW, what you were looking at in the pic is 1/16" double stripe.
