Eaton, I wonder if using a hair dryer is safer on the felt strip to prevent melting the cluster? I've used a hair dryer in the past to soften stickers that have been applied to various laptop components in the past with great success.
A hair drier might work as well. I don't think I have one readily available, so I used the oven. A heat gun may be too hot. I set the oven on the lowest setting and only had the cluster in there for a few minutes.

No 350F and bake for 15 minutes! That will make you a sad panda for sure.
