Yes the M855 round was designed to penetrate a Kevlar at 600 meters.

That's an old load, the new MK262 allows affective engagement to 700 meters. Also something like a modern TSX round is extremely capable of retaining lethality after passing threw brush and cars.

The 5.56 has come a long way since Vietnam, and the old M193. The Marines are moving over to the MK318 SOST round which is extremely affective.

Also remember I'll be firing these out of a 20in barrel with a 1:8 twist and polygonal rifling so I'll be getting over 3k fps out of all of them. Compared to the military standard of 14.7 inch's.
