So what excuses the accidents on that route each week?

Even for those who do not travel the route a car stuck in the road is out of place and addmultiple unknowns to the scenario.

No more danger if someone were paying attention.
No more danger than a slippery road.
No more danger than an unlit road.
No more danger than a deer (which are in the vicinity en mass daily)

Say what you want but I don't think you have a valid argument when you say your actions did not add any risk to the commute.

Further, since the stretch of road has several companies, all of which use large, trailered trucks, which block traffic on a daily basis while entering and exiting their respected driveways.
Traffic going this way regularly is accustomed to come upon poorly lit, slow moving vehicles in unmarked driveways and on an unlit road.
A road flare and warning triangle are CONSIDERABLY brighter than the singular working taillight on a landscaping truck with a trailer.
In fact, the more I think about it, considering the environment and the lack of shoulders on the vast majority of the road, I probably stopped in the most convenient spot on that road.
