I hear this lack of education thing from people here in Oklahoma a lot.

There are jobs here for skilled labor due to the oil business, but if you need someone with real technical skills or a higher education you almost always have to bring in someone from outside the state.

An exception to the lack of education here was once the town of Bartlesville, which at one time was the home office of Phillips 66. There were more Phd's. per square mile than anyplace else on earth, and the US Patent Office set up an office there just to deal with the number of Patents they would file on a daily basis.

But very few of these Phd. holders came from Oklahoma.
