I would like to see smaller diesels here, meaning 3 cyl tdi's in Golfs or atleast much smaller displacement/power. It would be nice to get 3L/100kms in a bigger vehicle with a small engine. My issue with most swaps the vehicle is not worthy of the engine...it will not support the life of the engine so what is point? Along those lines however I would love an all wheel drive station wagon with manual trans or dual clutch with a diesel like a Passat B3-B6 or even better an Audi with longitudinal engine layout like A4 or A6. Sad thing is they exist everywhere but here. VAG products seem to resist our salt use pretty well (13 years in our Jetta tdi and no structural rust 290k miles) so they can last.
A 4matic wagon would also be nice with a modern Mercedes 4 cyl like that of the new GLK or even the ML and R with that engine, the V6 is total overkill for power-I never use the power but pay for it constantly!
