That should work. There isn't a lot of pressure on the EGR anyway. Your car will throw a code if the EGR valve and its electrical connections or the vacuum line are disconnected.

Your car also may be able to sense the air flow through the EGR valve and tattle if it isn't there. In that case, you may have to re-plumb the EGR valve so that its source is the air filter rather than the exhaust manifold. That way there will be clean filtered air rather than sooty exhaust flowing through it. That should keep the Spies of Sauron happy.

If your state has inspections you will have to reverse everything so use the KISS method.
