Primary timing with the milli volt method thread in the archives should at least provide some interesting reading. It did not work out well for the primary timing but as the thread goes along is went to the sequential lineup of the injection pumps elements and that is one difficulty you seem to have in my opinion. The engine knocking heavy unless you loosen off the number one injector hard line. Plus your setting the overall timing back to enable the number one not to knock. You have swapped injectors and the problem remained.
