No telling what wasn't visible as I didn't bother checking jack points or anything else underneath. Interior was in good shape with an uncracked dash and the engine sounded good---I didn't bother to pop the hood to look at the engine in detail. The best and highest use of this car is for parts.
This was perhaps the best example I've seen of deceptive advertising--even down to the picture in the ad. I should have insisted on more information before I went out to see it. Oh well, you live and learn. I'll keep looking.

Sorry to hear that. I once went to look at a Volvo in Dorchester (MA) that was advertised a needing only a fuel sender. When I got there, it also needed new upholstery, a rear window (not just nicked, smashed), a radio, climate controls, etc. The 'Benz in the signature has structural rust, but unfortunately I only discovered it post-purchase. I'm now most likely buying a rust-free (Really! It's from Texas.) '82 300SD that needs a transmission from a fellow forum member. Hopefully I'll have a running 'Benz on the road for the first time in my life in less than three weeks!
