Probably not "ignoring"

the air conditioning. If the diaphragm in your monovalve is compromised, the system defaults to full heat and will overwhelm the air conditioning.

As previous poster said, check your monovalve by pulling out the insert and inspecting. If ruptured, replace it. It could solve your problem. If it doesn't, we'll go from there. Worst case is a failed pushbutton control unit.
