I want to thank all for their interest on this.

I figured out what caused the failure today while removing the seal that holds the sleeve in place.

I was looking at how to remove the seal and trying to figure out how to pry the seal with a long screw driver, but to do this the srew driver would put pressure against the part of the meat that the lock ring fits in. Then I remenbered trying to use this techniqe to remove the seal while transmission was in the vehicle. Back then I finnally removed the valve body to punch out the sleeve and seal fron inside the case.

I discovered this because I wanted to use the new piston in the doner transmission. This time I made a puller using the bolt and washer ground down on the sides so it would slip through the seal and a bolt thrugh a bar across the top of the opening. This was a challange even with the trans out of the car laying on it's side. But next time I think I could do in in the vehicle.

I have 3 new pictures to show the differnce between the old and new styles B2 Pistons Left one is the old style, one on right in new style.

Thanks for all the interest in my screw up. Maybe this could someone later doing this.

Tom
