Today I took the hot rod studie engine down to Michael's shop so he can fabricate the mounts and install it in the chassis. after we unloaded it I took off the LF brake backing plate so I can see if the disc brake kit for a later studie will bolt up. All twelve bolts came undone with an ordinary 12" handle ratchet. All but one of the factory 1939 lock washers came off intact. The twelfth came off in two pieces. I dropped it off in Noblesville on the way home.
The bed is off and has been por 15 coated on the bottom. After wire brushing there are about ten small holes in it so he will weld them shut and paint the cargo area of the bed too. The outside will be left original with 74 years of patina.
We are hoping to use the later model truck three speed with overdrive transmission.
The chevy turbo 350 on the studie motor looks like it will require extensive modification of the floor to fit into the chassis.
They have almost finished boxing the entire rear of the frame.
