I would carefully inspect the wire pack going to the door. It would not hurt to replace the vacuum hoses if they appear brittle as well.

Now to remove the mirror so the wire can be disconnected?
An what type of wire to use for splicing out the bad wire? Solder and heat shrink tubing? It seems like a wear point with be within the boot. Are the window switch connector reused?

It looks like I will need to remove the carpet again.
Any aftermarket fixes to seal over the boot?
