Start the car and before it gets warm remove the cap from the coolant tank; if the cap blows off you have compression (and oil) going into the cooling system. on the bright side, i drove my 300se like that fro 33k miles and it was still going strong and my 87 300d is doing it for a while now ans never overheats or anything
