An old silverback I respect greatly, recently told me the following:

Don't be afraid to spend a little bit of money on things that separate you from the ground; shoes, beds, pillows, furniture...cars and tires could pretty easily be twisted to fit that concept as well.

The first time you need to put your money where your mouth is with those tires, the 40% difference in price is going to be trivial.
