Most decisions by our elected officials are made by what would be most beneficial to them not for the taxpayers. That could be where an airport goes, to what they are going to require you to have in your own home. An example of that was just before an ordinance requiring smoke detectors be installed in every home in Chicago it turned out that the a bunch of city officials and their family members invested in a smoke detector maker. The ordinance was a good one but none the less still sneaky chit to benefit them.
