Don't bother with an '88 dash. It'll crack before long. Find the latest year dash in an acceptable color with or without passenger airbag as you need. In fact, it might be possible to put a glove box in place of the airbag if your car doesn't have a passenger airbag.

The good thing about living in Minnesota is that you don't see too many cracked dashes on any car no matter the age. The number of days they spend baking in the sun is pretty limited...
