I have experienced a 100% blocked cat on this car/engine - the engine will start but shake like an earthquake and then shut down if revved, the shut down happens due to the crankcase pressure. A person who has taken apart these pumps can explain better - it has some sort of safety cut for this.

But the engine should start.
