As far as luggage LGA still offers curbside. Or you can bring it into the terminal, and they x-ray it in front of you. So if TSA needs to check it, you can have them do it in front of you. I use a copper wire that I link with a drop of solder as a luggage lock. It discourages thieves, since there's no way to open the bag without it being very evident.
