If you are going to spend time shopping for an older Mercedes -- and unless you are fabulously lucky, it will take some time to find the right, good one -- you need to settle back and enjoy the wide variety of bullwinkle some vendors are going to throw at you.

A few common examples, off the top of my head:
- gets 40 mpg!
- they ALL GO 500,000 MILES (or 1M, in some cases)
- motor completely rebuilt! (but mysteriously, no receipts were kept)
- just needs a little tune up (when the dead miss on one cylinder is rocking the entire car)
- maintained by my brother/cousin/uncle, who used to be the chief mechanic at the biggest Mercedes dealer in (insert foreign capital city of choice)

And so on. Enjoy
