It depends on what is going on.
If you turn the Ignition Key and hear the Starter Solenoid Click but nothing else happens there is a good chance the Contacts inside of the Starter Solenoid that connect it to the Brushes are burned or there is something in the Lingages connected to the Starter solenoid preventing it from reaching the Contacts inside of the Solenoid.
I think the Starter Solneoid could click and the Starter Brushes also be worn or not making enough contact to rotate the Starter.
I think the Neutral Safety Switch or those Shifter Bushings could cause intermittant problem before they go out completely.
The next time it does not Crank insead of jumpering the Wire Terminal Block. Jumper that Connector inside of the Car where you can bypass the Neutral Safety Switch. If it starts after that you have a Neutral Safety Switch or a Shifter Bushing issue.
Ignition Switch; in the pic in the red square the Metal Contact Dis that is supposed to be on the Let side is gone. The right side one is still there. This Switch was still working OK but it is clear that it was on the way out.
I never bothered to investigate if that particular Contact went to crank the Starter or not. It was the only contact that was that bad.
