I would just replace the axle - you can buy them from peach parts for like $90 or pick up one from CVJ that is a re manufactured OEM version.

It's not a terrible job; you just need a biiiiig breaker bar on the 27mm axle bolt

I did them on my E430 4MATIC last year and bought them from CVJ.
