I've used Lucas injector cleaner, I buy the big 32oz bottle and add some to my gas cars. I've had cars run noticeably smoother and seem to have a minor mpg improvement. However there is no scientific way that I have to measure smoothness. So its all my perception. Cleaner injectors make for better spray patterns and better atomization so it all stands to reason but I don't have numbers to back up that claim.
I've used seafoam as a fuel additive and I've also sucked it into a vacuum line to clean carbon out of a motor. I have had old American V8s run better after some seafoam sucked into the intake. But again this all my perception, I never pulled the intake manifold to see if the valves looked cleaner.
