I had a good experience with an aftermarket warranty from a company called Smartchoice on my Passat. They covered everything on the car including transmission, timing chains basically everything on a car. There's a $50-$100 deductible.

I don't think they cover cars with more than 100k miles--I'm not sure if this applies to you, but you can try them and see.
