My thoughts:

Everyone should be checked regardless of their job, status, rank, service, title etc.

No one should be trusted based on their word, service etc.

I just got back from a business trip a few weeks ago. Going through the TSA checkpoint was not a huge pain. I took my shoes off, my laptop out and placed them into the bins. Walked through the scanner booth thing, stuck my arms up and walked out.

I later got a free leg massage because I'd forgotten to take out some mints out of my pocket.

The TSA folks that I dealt with were not rude or annoying, they were straightforward and to the point. I had no problems.
