all this talk about getting felt up is interesting, sounds like a big scare tactic since to my knowledge its pretty rare unless you keep setting off the scanner. Ive been on 4 commercial flights in the last 10 months, one international, and not once was I "felt up".
TSA is pretty predictable, and returning to the OP, the reason this guy got into a big thing with TSA is he refused to remove his metal laden uniform jacket, which any idiot can tell you will have to happen unless you are crew on an accelerated screening process.
My process is simple, I get into the security line that may take 10-20 minutes (never has it been hours in the major airports Ive been in), while waiting in line I untie my shoes, I remove my license from my wallet and place my wallet, phone, keys, and belt in my carry on, keeping my ticket and license in my pocket.
I arrive at the baggage screening conveyer, I place bag on conveyer, I place shoes and jacket in bucket and place on conveyer, and I walk through. Pick everything up on the other side. Done and done.
I don't carry big toothpaste, big contact stuff, food or water through security screening. 5 minutes of prep in having the right stuff to get through an airport before you get there is all it takes.
Only one time since 9/11 has my bag been opened by TSA, and that was when I had 3 knives in my carryon I had forgotten about. A bread knife, and two jack knives. Even then I wasn't "felt up" by TSA.
This hulabaloo is just so much silly hype. Guy should have known better than to expect that he could just walk through security screening without removing his uniform jacket, no doubt he's been on plenty of commercial flights in the past and knows the drill.
