I read the article but did not take away such solid sounding thoughts.

The president was given the nobel probably more than anything else because he was not GWB. Just because he got it does not mean he suddenly has to conform to some code of behavior either. He was elected president. The office has realities and responsibilities which cause a good percentage of his actions to be the same as anybody occupying the office.
