That is true, but it only makes it more unfortunate that as incoming president of a nation deeply embroiled in two armed conflicts at the time that they would offer him such a prize, and that he accepted it.
Because he wasn't GWB was certainly cause for celebration, but not for throwing around awards like the nobel prize.
However now that he has it, the issue is moot. The time for turning it down is a long time past
