Today something odd happened when I turned off my 1987 300E, not sure what I did or what the sequence was but after turning off the car and removing the key from the ignition, when I went to open the door the door buzzer buzzes. I also noticed that the steering wheel does not lock with the key out. It seems like the ignition assembly thinks that the key is still in the tumbler.

I can still start and drive the car its just tha the door buzzer buzzes when I open the drivers door with the key out of the ignition, I also noticed that the steering wheel doesn't lock when I remove the key ( I'm repeating what I mentioned above).
