I ended up buying the replacement trans from Sun Valley and had it installed a couple weeks ago- now with probably a few hundred miles on it to date. Happy to report it runs better than it ever has right out of the box! I recommend SV with high marks for their rebuild quality and customer service. Between the cost of the trans, new vac pump, water pump, radiator, serpentine belt and tensioner plus installation of everything, total cost was just shy of $3k. Money well spent in my opinion!
