Pooka, You have had a lot of experiences!
I see much of the same ineptness among younger people--especially the refusal to accept responsibility for anything. I don't attribute that to their politics--especially since liberals way out number conservatives in MD. I attribute it to the over-cuddling/ PC nature of public ( and much private) education over the last 30 years. We think we are nurturing children by the constant praising of any endeavor--but all we really teach them is indulgence. Some places even stop keeping score on youth athletic games so that no one loses--but also no one wins. Never have to deal with "the agony of defeat", nor "the thrill of victory". never have to build character. never have to admit you failed, or that some else made superior effort, and achieved superior results.
In short, those young people, are acting exactly as they have been educated to act.
If you want different results, you must change the way we educate.
Of course my 88 year old mother-in-law has never admitted to doing anything wrong--not even of misplacing stuff in my house,---in her life.
