The torque converter has a drain plug. It would be unusual, but not impossible, that the drain plug just started leaking. There is a small aluminum seal that goes on the drain plug, some times a mechanic will forget to remove the old seal during a trans service, and this can cause a leak, but usually it will start leaking right away after the work, not a long time afterwards.
The front pump could be the problem as well, either the seal is just bad, or a problem with the pump itself.
To reseal or replace the front pump involves removing the transmission, which takes several hours of labor. Resealing the front pump once the transmission is removed is a couple more. If it just needs front pump seals, the parts are pretty cheap.
I'd recommend putting the car on a lift and rotating the engine through by hand (large socket and long breaker bar on the bolt on the front of the engine) while someone inspects the converter for damage and also to look for/at the drain plug on the converter. If it looks more like the leak is at the front of the transmission case itself (behind the converter) that would suggest the front pump has failed or has leaking seals.
