Every, single airplane accident is reported on the news. Almost everyone of those reports is written by someone who knows absolutely nothing of what they are talking about. If the same were to happen with auto accidents, there would not only be no time for anything else on TV and radio, but most people would be scared to death to go near the death traps. On the road there are plenty of idiots sizzling by you a few feet away. In the air you pretty much have the "road" to yourself. Mid air crashes are extremely rare.

As long as I'm not flying over a metropolitan area with no open fields, or at night, I feel much safer in the air than driving down the road.

If you want to talk about something dangerous, lets talk about the accident rate among the mid lifers never having ridden a motorcycle before and succumbing to the Harley craze. We've lost the lives of three people at work in the last few years in this category.
